Rothay Manor Hotel

We booked this hotel as it is dog friendly and our stay was fantastic. Upon arrival we were upgraded to our suite in the more modern building which has real luxury feeling of mid century and traditional style. The suite also had an outdoor wrap around patio area which was awesome for our small dog and there was an outdoor hot tub which was a lovely touch. We dined in the restaurant and the food was incredible with amazing service. Special shout out to Bryony who had only joined the hotel a few days prior to our stay and she was fantastic and a real credit to the hotels training of their staff members. Overall I would say this is an amazing hotel with warm and friendly staff within a short stroll to the centre of Ambleside. Excellent!

When in Ambleside last Christmas we enjoyed a fabulous meal at this wonderful hotel, we enjoyed our experience so much that we decided to stay for 2 nights in August, what a great decision. Our room was absolutely stunning, huge bed with crisp luxurious linen, lots of storage space, 2 fabulously comfy chairs in front of patio doors to enjoy the beautifully kept garden, large patio with table and chairs, enormous bathroom with a shower so large it could literally fit a family of four, a huge roll top bath that was very welcome after a long walk, local toiletries from the Bath House in Ambleside and wallpaper that was a work of art. We felt completely pampered. Without exception all the staff were delightful, nothing was too much trouble and I love the fact that they invite you give to your name not room number when adding items to your room and then they remember your name. Breakfast was delicious, quality local produce expertly prepared, certainly sets you up for the day. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

Just returned from a short stay at this hotel which we have stayed at a few times over last few years. It is a small hotel in the Lake District not too far from the small town centre of Ambleside and also within easy walking distance of the very tip of Windermere Lake in the other direction. Even though you cannot see the lake from the hotel you can walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants. What we like about this hotel is the excellent food in the restaurant. Headed by Rowan produce what possibly be my absolute favourite starter and main course. I hope that while he has to change the menu regularly that he would consider leaving the lobster tail starter and the monk fish main course. He was so kind to cook us a special main course that was not on the menu during our stay just for us.Many thanks. We enjoyed that immensely. We returned to this hotel just for the food alone. Here hopefully to returning again in the next few months. Also not to forget all the staff who were extremely helpful and friendly
