BEST WESTERN CASTLE GREEN HOTEL

Excellent hotel just a 5 minute drive from Kendal town centre Rooms were nice and clean and it was good value We had breakfast included and it was very good and a good selection The hotel had a Gymnasium swimming pool and steam room which you got access too you also could get spa treatments overall it was an excellent stay apart for one blight at the end we were charged for parking in the hotel ground but when we quiered the charge and they dully refunded it

We came for the alternative afternoon tea and it was amazing ! So much food we took some home ! Really great value too, the hot food was piping hot, I loved that you could see it all being prepared too so it was really fresh . We had fish and chips, black pudding sausage roll , chicken bits, aranchini, yoghurt and granola, brownie and of course scones with jam and cream ! The staff were really fantastic too, I would highly recommend 😃

This is such a mixed review Positives The staff are absolutely fantastic every single one I was in contact with was so nice. The room and the grounds were top draw very clean and very well kept This is definitely a hotel for the older clientele, I felt at times like I was in a care home,now I am not saying that old people shouldn't belong in a place like this but I felt like I shouldn't be here and I am 61.I would also say the old people who i spoke were all very nice and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Now my negative views Breakfast was not great Firstly the plates were so small it made eating a full English very difficult and I really didn't understand why the hotel would use plates this small I thought at first maybe people take to much and then waste it but having seen people stacking layers of bacon and sausage, black pudding and eggs onto the tiny plate and then trying to hold another tiny plate with toast that they had to make themselves on a toaster that seemed to burn everyone's toast when it was being made made me think otherwise. As a result of this my wife and I didn't use the restaurant once during our 3 night stay I obviously thought the evening meals would have looked like children's portions on plates so small. On my 3rd visit to the Breakfast restaurant I asked for decaffeinated coffee as I had the two previous days to be told our coffee machine is currently not working so I could only have decaffeinated tea,sadly I don't like tea,how on earth can a hotel of this size only have on coffee machine, not good at all. I was charged £15 for each Breakfast so I would definitely think about value for money. Finally have just had a annoying Breakfast issue i then went to finalise my bill to be told I had to pay to park at the hotel £10 per night I have never paid parking in all my life were a hotel has so much parking space. This hotel must be making over a million pound a year probably a lot more in what they are taking off customers who have no other choice but to pay this obscene amount of money. The hotel is situated miles away from any car parks and even close by there appears to be nowhere else to park,so basically pay the £10 a night or you find another hotel. I simply will be finding another hotel in the future which is a shame as this place is so nice and honestly the staff are even nicer. I would love a reply to both the plate and car parking comments I have made Cheers
