Fitz Guest House

Check in for the B&B is 2pm. The owner messaged me the previous day asking for my arrival time. I explained I was driving from Oban and I'd be there by 3pm at the latest. When we arrived no one was in. We knocked on the door and another guest let us in. My mum was desperate for the toilet, she used the nearest toilet downstairs and said it was covered in cat hairs. We waited for the owner and decided to leave as no one was there to check us in. We went and stayed ay another hotel. We tried to get a refund which was unsuccessful. I complained to booking.com and got £12.66 back. Don't stay here - awful service! The shared space in the lobby and hallway was cluttered and dirty. The one star given is for the location as It was close to town.

We have stayed here a few times many years ago and enjoyed it so thought we would again. How wrong we were. The room (a twin) did not have twin beds, there was a day bed and a hideaway bed beside it. The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and the pillows very thin and we had next to no sleep. There was some sort of pump running all night which was really noisy. There was no hot water but I wouldn’t have stepped foot in the shower anyway as it looked very grubby and there was hair in various places inside it. We were looking forward to a pleasant overnight but wished we had spent the considerable fee on a hotel. We will not be back.

Very poor value and experience. 2 rooms for 1 night cost £300. Check out 10am. Alleged twin room was a day bed and a rollaway bed. Not comfortable. Double had an ancient collapsed mattress with 2cm foam on top so any movement produced tidal waves. Poor nights sleep. Heating was off-IN JANUARY!!!! Only heat was an electric fake coal fire which barely touched the cold room. Likewise the hot water was tepid and not warm enough to shower in the freezing non-heated bathroom. No longer providing breakfast as advertised on booking.com. Go somewhere else.
