Broadoaks Boutique Country House

Absolutely beautiful place for a 2 night stay. Got upgraded which was a lovely surprise. Staff very friendly, room clean & comfortable, everything cleaned & topped up on second day. Breakfast had plenty of options & very tasty, had diner one night and we loved it. Bar and lounge area cosy, background music perfect volume to unwind with a drink, outside has plenty tables & seats too. Would definitely recommend.

We booked for 2 nights with a 5 course dinner on the first night. My husband had recently had knee replacement surgery so I rang to ask about access in the bathrooms. We chose Ash room which was on the first floor overlooking the fountain at the front. It was a beautiful room, light and airy and the bed was very comfortable. Only a couple of comments to make which could be easily rectified. I am only 5’3” and could barely reach the chain cord to put the blind up and down at the window. This needs to be made longer. Likewise, the height of the shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom was ridiculously high up towards the ceiling meaning I had to stand on tiptoe and still reach up in order to pump the bottles. The bath is also quite high to climb in and out of and there are no safety grab rails. The hotel makes a big thing about the jacuzzi baths but to be honest, I would much prefer a big shower cubicle and a sink you could actually get washed in, rather than the dolls house size sink in this bathroom. Nice smelling toiletries and plenty of towels provided. Apart from that, the hotel is lovely with lots of quirky items. The staff are friendly but our stay was a bit faulty towers with nobody serving in the bar. We had to ring a bell and wait for someone to arrive but it felt a bit rushed because they were also serving in the restaurant. The food is to a high standard in the restaurant but the 2 waiters were not the greatest and could definitely do with restaurant training. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine and the waiter managed to break both wine glasses and then proceeded to pour the wine into 2 thick rimmed juice glasses and filled them to the brim. I asked if I could have a proper wine glass to let my red breathe and was told there were none available! I ended up taking one from another unoccupied table and trying to precariously decant from one glass to another without spilling. Not the greatest dining experience for our first evening. It would not put us off staying here again when we visit the Lakes but the young male staff need to up their game somewhat.

AVOID IF YOU WANT A NICE STAY DIRTY LODGES MOULDY FOOD our room was filthy we addressed this the cleaners come and did not even sort the room just made the bed mould all around the bath Hair debury in and on the bath Dead spider and ants on the bath and towel holder pooh up the wall in the toilet filthy hand prints marks all around room they said its not dirty just the look the hotel when I wiped with baby wipes all came off Mould on the towels . Food was served a bloody burger that was just salty and chips hollow sent it back and was offered a dessert Breakfast the eggs was uncooked and green and that is ok apparently . The stairs In the lodge collapsed well I was walking on it and we called up some one was coming down 2 hours later no one arrived at 930 pm a lad came down with us and looked and said we're get it in the maintenance book!! This happened mid morning and the middle step had collapsed and was a hazard they did not care . Upon trying to speak to the hotel about all these issues they dont care they said its not an issue about the housekeeping and things are not as bad as the photos look well its a photo of the room so it is . Upon our stay 2 other couples brought food and cleaning issues damp issues to there attention no one cared ! Honestly avoid stayed here prior and it was beautiful really gone down hill .
