We have been staying at the Bellsfield Hotel for many years, due to its position and fabulous views of the lake. What also makes it special is the reception staff especially Charlie, Deagro and Philip, who always give exceptional service. Also to Taylor and Miguel in the restaurant who even remembered our likes and dislikes from our previous visits, they went above and beyond to make our stay special. Special thanks to all the staff for making our stay special, especially Charlie, Deagro, Philip, Taylor and Miguel. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Very kind regards Walt/Lyn.

Booked the Belsfield Hotel for my Mam's 91st birthday as we wanted a place that did a nice afternoon tea for the older family members along with regular food for some of our younger party members. Have to say that the afternoon tea was one of the best we've ever had. Beautifully made fresh sandwiches, lovely savoury treats (sausage rolls and mini mushroom tarts) and delicious scones and desserts (we had to have some boxed up - couldn't finish it all). Other meals from menu also got thumbs up, especially chicken supreme. Service friendly though not always easy catching someone to ask for extra drinks, butter etc so would benefit from someone being based in the main dining area. Only other minor gripe would be tea - feel with such amazing food it should have been loose leaf, not Twinings tea bags. Also needs a menu card to choose these from I feel. Other than that, and the relatively high price, cannot recommend enough - will be back for a special occasion or nearer Christmas.

My wife and I have stopped at The Belsfield a number of times over the years when travelling through the Lake District. It has become a bit of a tradition for us... stop in Bowness, call into the hotel for a drink, sit for a while looking out over the lake, stretch our legs, then carry on with the journey. It is a lovely place to stop. The setting is hard to beat, the hotel has real character, and it always feels like a pleasant little break in the journey. On our most recent visit I also had a nice time with Charlie Dench on reception, and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Polite, patient, helpful and genuinely pleasant throughout. Good service is often about how somebody makes you feel when you're dealing with them, and Charlie made everything straightforward and easy. He represented the hotel extremely well. We already enjoyed stopping at The Belsfield because of the setting and atmosphere, but Charlie has given us another reason to look forward to calling in again. A particular thank you to him. I hope the management team see this, because he deserves the recognition.
