We were here for the G&S festival and the hotel was the low point. It’s shabby, the rooms are a disgrace. There’s an iron burn on the carpet, the bathroom counter is scorched and ruined, there’s no light in the interior bathroom ( we reported it but there’s no maintenance at the weekend so tough luck). Parking is extremely difficult and the check-in staff when we arrived were brusque and unhelpful. There’s no one to help with bags - I had to help someone struggling with his luggage outside our room. The menu is uninspiring but we made the choice not to eat here after seeing the rooms. Until it is refurbished we won’t be back here.

The rooms are a bit tired as previously mentioned but if you want clean then It doesn't matter. The rest of the hotel is stunning. Located right next to the park, opera house and town centre. Breakfast was ample. Bar was very nice and standard prices. It's my second visit the last time was 2019. If you don't mind the rooms being a bit old fashioned. But just want a clean room and a bargain stay then maybe give it a go. The rest of the stay is well worth it.

I stayed two separate nights during the wonderful Buxton International Festival. The first room I had was fine, but for the second night I was given a room which overlooked a sort of courtyard with some kind of machinery (generator? extractor fan?) which kept up a constant noise (a relatively low hum) all evening and all night - probably 24 hours. I did not sleep at all well, and would not book at the Palace again, for fear of getting a room overlooking this yard again.
