Excellent 4 star hotel very close to the centre of Derby. I stayed a week and experienced a Standard room and an Executive room with breakfast. The management and staff running this hotel were all fantastic - especially Riley on the Front Desk who understands that to make things better you have to make better things - Riley stepped up everytime. I'd definately stay at this hotel again.

My husband I stayed for 1 night on 10 July. The hotel itself was fine, but your first impression is when you check in at reception. We checked about 3.30. There was a lady called Ja…. She was the most miserable and unhelpful person I have ever encountered. She was rude and unhelpful to the family who checked in before us and was the same with us. She didn’t smile and answered in single words. She thrust a card with the key into my hand without telling me the room number or which floor it was on or anything that matter. When we went out later she was just as rude with other guests. She should definitely not be front of house or is in desperate need of some customer service training!

Avoid This Hotel at All Costs
This has been one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I booked an 11-night stay and paid over **$2,000**, expecting a comfortable stay and professional service. Instead, I have been met with rude staff, poor management, and a complete lack of hospitality.
The breaking point came after I ordered a **$6 beer**. I had just arrived from a long international flight and had worked an entire day. Exhausted, I finally laid down to take a short nap when the front desk called my room and demanded that I come to the lobby **immediately** to pay for the beer. I politely asked if I could pay after resting for a little while, but the manager insisted that I come downstairs right away with my credit card. Waking up a paying guest over a $6 charge after they've spent more than $2,000 on their stay is beyond unreasonable. It was disrespectful, unnecessary, and showed a complete lack of customer service.
Unfortunately, that was not the only issue. The rooms are outdated, the sofas are old and visibly dirty, and the room key cards stop working constantly. Almost every day I have had to return to the lobby just to have my key reactivated. It's an inconvenience that should not happen at a hotel charging these rates.
The staff could greatly benefit from professional customer service training. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome and valued, not treating them like an inconvenience over a $6 charge.
I travel frequently and rarely leave negative reviews, but I genuinely cannot recommend this hotel. Save yourself the frustration, spend your money elsewhere, and choose a hotel that actually values its guests.
If this is for a public review site, this version is likely to be taken more seriously because it focuses on specific, verifiable experiences rather than exaggeration.
