Been multiple times as it is excellent value for money and always been lovely! The rooms are very nicely furnished, always clean, and the beds are comfy. Sheets were offered and the rooms all seem to have fans to cope with the heat so this wasn't a problem for us with our recent visit during the heatwave. It's also a historic building with a lot of history in the local area. The whole hotel is beautifully refurbished with a very cosy lounge bar and a proper pub-style bar in the adjacent room with a great selection of local ales and delicious wine. The food is very good quality and the breakfast menu being included with the room is great as it offers a lot of options. The locations offers lovely walks right from the door. The service is good and staff are very friendly.

This was our second time visiting the White Hart, both stays we’ve had a lovely time here. We stayed in the Mews rooms both times which are modern and nicely done. Bed and pillows comfy and the fan provided in the room was powerful so made for a comfortable stay even mid-heatwave! I had fish and chips, classic executed well and we really liked the new seasonal cocktails Paper Planes and a Barbie themed one. We we really liked the beer selection, especially trying some of the Devon based beers. Breakfast is a buffet as well as choice from the cooked breakfast menu (both included in room price) so we felt like that added to the value for money of the room. As it was very warm during the day when we stayed in June, we really liked the outdoor seating area which is surrounded by lots of plants and subtle fairy lights in the evening. We’re looking forward to our next stay and exploring more of Dartmoor. Overall a very pleasant stay, would recommend.

We had a superior room with four poster whic was priced at £175 per night, luckily we had a small discount but even then £150 for what we got was poor. Cons: *The room had bubbling and peeling plaster around windows, plug sockets and bath ( see pics) *Windows rattled all night ( a rubber wedge provided would have helped this) * view was of big kitchen roof and large metal fan, which you could hear both the fan and kitchen staff slamming fridge/freezer doors into the night and the pub garden was right outside the window so again loud. * Bed was so rickety and creaky it felt like it would fall appart, we only weight 62 and 74 kilos so I would hate to sleep on it if we were more curvy people. * Breakfast was really stingy, i get people don't always want alot but half a mushroom, and tiny pot of beans.... how much does a full mushroom and cheap beans cost really?? Also there wasn't any fruit out and the coffee was awful, very bitter and burnt tasting. If we had paid £100 or less for the room then these things would be as acceptable but no way it was worth the upgrade. for the higher price tag i expect the room to be finished properly, real coffee and a breakfast to actually set you up for a days walking. We have been coming and staying in different Dartmoor hotels 2-3 times per year for 15years now so I do have some experience in what you get for your money, having stayed everywhere from shepherds huts, numerous b&b's and places like two bridges and the Bedford and sadly this just wasn't closeto being worth it for the price tag. There were some pro's: * the lady checking us in was polite *The room was clean and the bed, although creaky and rickety was comfortable enough regarding matress and bedding. * Nice shower gel and shampoo in the rooms * dining room decor was well done. Overall, if you can get a cheaper room (£100 or cheaper) then this might be alright but if you are looking for something higher class with a higher price range, go elsewhere, there is much better to be found in fantastic locatins both on the moor and in surruonding villages.
