Three Crowns

Gorgeous place Sunday roast fabulous, idyllic and staff lovely. Our dog friendly room was so nice and accessible. Would highly recommend 👌 try chagford pool and visit St Michael's church. Stunning

A group of 20 of us had meals on two separate evenings and although the food was all fine, the staff, without fail were abrupt unfriendly, and some just rude. I understand that catering for groups is more challenging - one waitress shouted out our orders in such a manner that it felt like being on a military training camp, without any warmth or indeed humour. The bar tender almost threw the wine menu at me when I asked what he had mumbled with his head under the counter. We had preordered our meals and the waiter argued with me about what I had ordered for dessert, only to look and find I was right but no apology. It’s interesting how on a Saturday night that wasn’t that busy that they can afford to treat a large group with such disdain. Our vote is that we won’t be going back next year - they may well not care, but I don’t want to give my hard won cash to such unfriendly and actively hostile staff.

Had a great lunch at The Three Crowns. Sat in the back garden, the food was fantastic and the service excellent. We have to make a special mention of Heather - they ran out of picalilli but seeing we were disappointed she went out to the local delicatessan and bought some. Going above and beyond and much appreciated.
