Carlton Hotel & Spa

The twin room had an awful smell so we were moved to another room where the main light flickered and the bedside lights would only work from one side of the room. Main light rectified but bedside lights were not. Beds had cheap mattresses and were very uncomfortable. Food - choice was limited and did not look appetising. Pool was nice and clean. Games room was not well signposted and only open until 9pm. Overall I would rate it 2/10. There was an international Chess ranking competition there and a German lady felt exactly as I did. Not a good advert for our country. Staff were mainly friendly and curteous. Irene, Northamptonshire.

We visited the Aztec and had 'Dip n Dine' on Thurs. 3rd Sept. 2026. Two grandparents and four year old grandson. Tracey and all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We go quite often from Paignton. Tracey mentioned there was a new chef and the food was even better than normal. Only thing to mention was the music was a bit loud especially outside. Fantastic stay. Shoutout to Hayden at the breakfast service—his cheerful demeanor and attentive attitude made starting the morning an absolute pleasure. Great food, great atmosphere, and exceptional service.
