Mayfield Hotel - Guest House

This was a nightmare after a long road trip. When we arrived first issue was finding parking, not so easy! Second thing was the check in, no checkin! you get a messege with all numbers. Then the room was so fungal ugly!!! Room 10 was horrible and i suggest it to no one!!! It was hot so when we entered the room the window was opened and water was dropping onto the pillow but there was no fan to keep cool. We sent a text to the owner asking for an extra towel and was told that tomorrow morning the towels are changed. Room 10 has a bathroom on the other side of the hall pass other rooms but here is no chance of keeping it closed with your items inside. The location was scary for us ladies and we didn't feel safe at all. Instead we didnt even sleep one night here and checked ourselves in a hotel. We had sent the owner telling me we arent staying, he didn't even bother to contact us, instead the money was withdrawn from our account.

Expensive for a place in desperate need of a refurb. We were allocated 2 rooms for 3 adults 2 children under 6. TV only worked in 1 room with outdated tv. Furniture was dusty. I bathroom wiyh wall either side of shower crumbling. Cold tap didnt work properly. No maid service other than refill tea and coffee. Milk cartons left white blobs in drinks. Fridge in room 2 with bunk beds and very cramped was dirty and smelled like rotting veg. Pillows lumpy. Plus side clean sheets and relatively quiet. Similar hotel/b n b in IOW with excellent rating including buffet breakfast all you can eat £70 more for same stay length in May

The hotel was great for a group on a hen do! The rooms were clean and functional. Admittedly the decor is a bit questionable but it just adds to the 'character' the hotel and rooms are accessed via codes so you don't have to worry about keys etc which is great. The breakfast was really good too! All in all it was ideal for what we wanted!
