Best Western Royal Chase Hotel

My wife and I spent a night at this lovely hotel as part of a mini break celebration of our wedding anniversary. The hotel was conveniently placed for the town, and was about a fifteen minute walk from the top of Gold Hill. The grounds were pleasant with lawns and mature trees. Our experience of the hotel was very good, in stark contrast to some other reviews of the hotel posted here. We had emailed the hotel in advance about the special occasion, and were delighted to find out on our arrival that our room had been upgraded. We found all aspects of our stay to be worthy of praise. The room and the public areas were presented immaculately, and all our interactions with staff were warm and friendly. The swimming pool was one of the facilities that had drawn us to the hotel, and we were not disappointed. It was a good size, spotlessly clean., and a good temperature. Fresh towels were in ample supply. The restaurant offered a good choice of dishes and beverages. Our food was served hot and was well presented. Our bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed a good night's sleep. The buffet breakfast offered a good choice of hot food. This is definitely a hotel that we woulkd use again if we needed accommodation in the area.

Curates egg. Good in parts. Not all bad.

I recently stayed at the Best Western, Shaftsbury to meet up with family living nearby, had a lovely few days but would like to point out a few issues needing attention…having worked in Hospitality myself I would hope the Hotel with take the few issues on board as they are easily rectified… Room 45 the base of glass shower screen needs attention soonest (black mould) and some mould on ceiling from shower. Pillows were of poor quality, hard and flat, certainly not Hotel standard, housekeeping offered alternative, they were not any better. Had a lovely swim in pool only 2 of us in it, however some of the tiles on entering pool were broken…clearly a health & safety issue, another client said they had reported this many times over a year + but no action had been taken. Super Breakfast and Found staff to be pleasant and helpful.
