My husband myself and our 2 friends with our dogs went for food this evening and cannot say a bad thing about this place it was extremely welcoming and dog friendly.
The food was cooked perfectly and service was exceptional would 100% recommend to people to eat here you will not be disappointed.

Strange experience with this one.
We were looking for somewhere for lunch between two points and this one came up with fairly good reviews. It’s a pub with accommodation.
Wanted to eat about 12.30pm but only 1pm was available. We arrived about twenty minutes early and thought we’d see if we could be seated early.
There weren’t many cars in the car park and even less people inside - in fact we were the only ones so not sure why we couldn’t book earlier unless they have a time limit on when you book to when you arrive. Sunday lunch is served between 12-3.
Greeted warmly by the staff member working and showed to our table. There were about 3 tables reserved but that was it.
We both went for the beef Sunday roast. Before our lunch came out we were joined in the room by another couple.
Food came out pretty quickly, beef was slightly pink, Yorkshire pudding was just right slightly crispy but soft in the middle. Carrots were quite mushy so definitely overcooked and the cauliflower cheese was a little too hard. You were given plenty of potatoes and a separate pot of gravy so you could choose how much to put on. The best part was definitely the Yorkshire pudding.
We didn’t want a dessert although you were given a choice of 5 or 6 different ones.
By the time we left there was still only the other couple in the pub. Put those meals together and the soft drinks both couples had would not have covered the staff wages lol et alone running the pub - I’m just intrigued how it is surviving with today’s costs.
Would most probably visit again if we were passing but wouldn’t make a special trip.

New owners, only had drinks and sat outside in the sunshine, but the service from the gentleman behind the bar was cheery, polite, and courteous indeed. I intend to return to sample the food, and to support the place, I have always liked the atmosphere of the place, and if supported it will remain a local Pub and eatery. …More

Adequate roadside pub chosen because it is dog-friendly and close for Shaftesbury. Billed as an old coach house with original features... Which it has, but which are not particularly charming. Had lunch here: not a gastro pub but okay.

On our way home from a beautiful spa day for our wedding anniversary we decided to pop into a lovely pub for dinner will unfortunately thats not what we got.
We got presented by I assume was the owner who told us rudely that they were busy and a waiting on dinner as a big table came in which was fine.
We ordered our dinner and drinks immediately. Not too much later food was being bought out the servers took the 1st plates to the big table that were in there then came out with a plate that no-one ordered on that table so I suggested that was my husband as that what he ordered so now I know they gave my dinner to the wrong table, I asked server where my food was she walked off to not even return with an update 10 mins later my husband has eaten half his dinner by now I ask another member of staff where my food was
Her reply was
They should have come out together, I replied with im guess that the case but it clearly hasn't and stated I think my dinner was given to the other table.
She went off to check then came back saying 5 mins. Which I wasnt happy about went outside for fresh air came back in still no dinner so I requested my money back for the meal because now my husband has finished his meal and we didn't plan to come out and eat separately. We got refunded the money for the missing meal with not even.an apologie, absolutely disgusting.
Which that i didn't even want to finish our drinks there im hungry and frustrated with the lack of hospitality we receive with there massive mistake.
I then as for the money back for drink which we hardly drank and were leaving while the landlady threw me back the money so disgustingly literally falling onto the floor and again not even so much as a apologie for what occurred.
At this point one of the lady on other table was next to me asked what happened so I explained I never received my meal she asked me what I ordered i said beef chilli she was like OMG my friend was given that but she ordered a 3 bean chilli as she was a vegetarian the poor customer was given meat being a vegetarian
I would 100% not recommend this pub as service and workers attitude is shocking
And unfortunately ruined the end of our 19th year anniversary.
Tips for pub ....
When you make a huge mistake take ownership of it inform you customer dont be so f'ing rude and not even apologies and then proceed to throw money at me especially when im leaving hungry at 8.30pm
Do not feed vegetarian paying customers meat, thats shocking
So infact the 2 tables that were eating food they managed to mess both up by there own negligence
This is a total honest review we attended on 1st July I have waiting a couple day to write my review as I was angry and didn't want it to come across like that, just an honest review of our experience
The landlady need to have a course on people skills which she clearly massively lacks
