Moonfleet Manor Hotel

I booked a long weekend at Moonfleet for my family (inc girls 9 & 7) and our dog. As soon as I booked I received helpful and personalised emails with information about the hotel and offering to assist with booking the children's clubs and other various experiences. We arrived early and were allowed to use the facilities ahead of going to our room. At check in we were provided with a full tour. I had pre booked my children into the complimentary childcare and was really impressed by the standard of toys and activities on offer. This allowed time for my husband and I to unpack and have a coffee without feeling rushed by the children. The whole site feels really safe and is small enough that we felt comfortable letting the children walk around unsupervised. The pool area is suitable for childrenof all ages with a paddle pool, a 1.2m, and 1.4m depth pools with floats available. Changing rooms are spotless and have towels and toiletries provided - so great to just turn up and not have to bring everything. We really enjoyed the play barn and again as a great range of activities for all ages. It was great to have sofas around as well a younger area near older children activities so it meant we could stay together. We did notice that some of the arcade games were not working which was a shame but there were other activities. Our room was spacious, stylish and functional. felt like a treat for adults while remaining family friendly. We all loved the breakfasts and did not feel rushed. The buffet offers a wide variety and all great quality. Staff were attentive and so kind to the children, especially in the evening when my youngest was a bit tearful, they recognised she was hungry and a little tired and gave her attention and went beyond to get her order quickly, this really helped settle her so we could still enjoy and family meal - thank you. Definitely a hotel chain I would recommend to parents who want to have a trip away and actually relax!

We’ve just returned from a wonderful family break at Moonfleet Manor, and it’s difficult to fault the experience. From the moment we booked to the moment we left, we felt incredibly well looked after. It’s a beautiful hotel, but what really makes it special is the people and the thought that goes into making a family stay genuinely enjoyable. The experience started before we’d even arrived. Darren gave us a pre-arrival call and took the time to understand a little about our family, what we wanted from our break and what we might need in the room. That small touch made a huge difference. When we arrived, the room had been prepared with a crib, baby monitor, changing mat and a little puzzle gift for our two-year-old, as well as the correct-sized dog bed and treats for our pooch. And what a room it was. We had amazing views, loads of space and all the amenities you’d expect, while still retaining the rustic charm you’d hope for from a coastal manor house. It didn’t feel tired or dated at all. Our two-year-old particularly loved the little story-time tent that had been set up in the room. Another lovely touch that made the stay feel special. The food was excellent throughout our stay. There was a great selection of food and drink, with generous portions at both lunch and dinner. It isn’t the cheapest, but the quality matched the price in our experience. Breakfast was a particular highlight, with a fantastic buffet offering something for every palate. Our little one certainly made the most of it, working their way through many a pain au chocolat and pancake! There are also fantastic facilities. We used the childcare for one session, which gave Mum and Dad a much-needed couple of hours of peace and quiet to properly relax. The gardens are beautifully maintained and have plenty to keep toddlers entertained. The pool is very well set up for different ages, with a baby area, two larger pools and a sauna. But the play barn was our favourite facility. It’s a huge, spacious area with soft play, video games, a climbing wall and even an indoor football area. We were incredibly lucky with the weather during our stay, but if the heavens had opened, we could easily have spent hours in there. However, by far and away, the best thing about Moonfleet Manor is the staff. Darren, Wendy, Declan, Sophie, Reece, and the many others whose names we unfortunately didn’t catch, provided genuinely five-star service. Every member of staff we interacted with was friendly, personable and helpful. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. There were two moments in particular that summed up the experience for us. Each morning, warm milk was brought up to our bedroom with a smile, such a simple thing, but an incredibly thoughtful touch when travelling with a toddler. Then, on our first night, we had some connectivity issues with the baby monitor. Wendy immediately reassured us that it was a quick fix, told us to sit down and relax in the lounge while she went upstairs to sort it, and returned with the monitor just five minutes later. That level of care made such a difference. A huge thank you to Darren, Wendy, Declan, Sophie, Reece and the entire team for making us feel so welcome and helping us have such a fantastic holiday. We left feeling relaxed, looked after and are already talking about coming back. We couldn’t recommend Moonfleet Manor highly enough.

Both times I’ve been here I’ve been ‘greeted’ by unfriendly, unwelcoming staff who seem to resent people passing by who just want a coffee. They just seem to prefer families who stay as guests in the hotel.
