The Richmoor Hotel

The location is excellent for the beach and a short stroll into town. Car parking is very good with a few options at various cost levels. The rear carpark being the most convenient. Reception is strangely at the rear of the property and you enter via the "beer garden". Then have to walk through the bar/restaurant to your room. Check in was okay. Bedrooms are typical seaside hotel lotteries. In that some are small with large en-suites and vica-versa. Buildings not originally designed for purpose. Mine was ok with a modern decorative feel. However the mattress was WELL passed it's use by date and urgently needed replacing. Always a plentiful flow of hot water and soap dispensers full, if a little clinical looking. There was a lack of storage space and clothes hangers missing. Something that house keeping should pick up on. Breakfast was very good. Large cooked selection and actually cooked well not just put under a hot lamp!! Had no problem with noise, although I could see how that maybe an issue given the large bar/entertainment venue. The hotel layout is odd. Reception at the rear and all stairs and routes passing through the bar. Not really welcoming. All of the staff were pleasent and helpful. Yes I would return but it may not be my first choice.

Excellent location, amazing staff.

If you value a peaceful night’s sleep and cleanliness do not stay here! Noisy people in the next room, hotel staff knocked and asked them to be quiet to no avail. I phoned reception SIX times but they did nothing to enforce their ‘shhhh be quiet’ policy so we were forced to leave. I have emailed both the hotel and the hotel owner but have received no reply. I feel we should be refunded as the hotel had a duty of care to us as paying guests to not be harassed by others which we most certainly were. I might also add the communal floors were filthy as were the lifts and the restaurant tables were sticky and greasy.
