4 of us booked a Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and looked incredible however it was nowhere near enough. We didn’t pay the extra for the additional 2 courses advertised on the menu as we thought a 3 course Sunday lunch would be ample. The portions served to us were looked as they should be served on a tasting menu as they were so small. They were delicious and great flavours but just not enough. We feel it should have been advertised as a 3 or 5 course tasting menu for Sunday lunch.

A few years since I last visited Knockinaam, and with new owners, management and a new Michelin-starred chef on board I was keen to try it. We stayed for two nights and the staff and kitchen never put a foot wrong. The ambiance of Knockinaam is as peaceful and relaxing as ever, and upgrades to bedrooms and bathrooms since my last visit have revitalised the accommodation. The setting remains unique and the food was outstanding: great to see a modern, ambitious chef offering such an inventive, locally-sourced menu in such a venerable old house. Excellent wine list too, with lots available by the half bottle and glass. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Knockinaam Lodge. Our Bay Room was lovely, with beautiful views across the sea and, in particular, spectacular sunsets. The private beach was incredible and such a relaxing place to sit on the patio overlooking the coast. The whole setting is incredibly peaceful, secluded and beautiful, while also being in a wonderful location. Our room was very comfortable, and the hotel team looked after us throughout our stay with great care and attention. Nothing was too much trouble, and we really appreciated the warm and attentive service. The seven-course tasting menu was very enjoyable and felt like a real treat. My only suggestion would be to offer some alternative dining options for guests staying for more than one night. We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu, but personally, we wouldn’t want another seven-course dinner on a third night. As the room booking is based on dinner, bed and breakfast, I wonder whether the lack of alternative dining options could potentially discourage some guests from booking longer stays, it would in our case. Even a more relaxed à la carte or lighter menu option would give guests greater choice. Overall, though, we had an amazing two-night stay and would like to thank the whole hotel team for making our time at Knockinaam Lodge so enjoyable. It is a truly special, peaceful and beautiful place, and we would be very happy to return.
