Hallgarth Manor Country Hotel & Restaurant

Me and my husband got married here on 11/09/2026 and it was such a beautiful amazing day. The staff were all so helpful and attentive and Charlotte was so supportive and helpful through the whole process especially when I got abit overwhelmed by nerves…she literally is the best! My family travelled from Portsmouth and all stayed at the hotel and every single room was comfortable, clean, pretty and great value. I would recommend to visit here for food as it’s delicious or to stay as it’s just so welcoming. Wedding packages are such great value and all my guests said it was a great day 😃 A real gem!! 💎

Nice enough hotel and staff friendly but no lift and a two storey climb with luggage meant a room change. This MAY be why I then received a message saying I failed to check in when I got home and am facing a £105 charge. No phone number to call and speak to anyone and no response so far to messages.

Now we booked this hotel on a whim as we had been gifted a voucher for a hotel stay and we picked this hotel from a large list. We paid the top up as the voucher didnt cover the full cost. I chose here as it looked quite lovely and grand and wanted something a bit more special than a town centre hotel. On entering it seems really lovely and the decor is great. We had to wait a while at reception for a member of staff to appear. Checked in no issues. Room on 2nd floor main staircase then a narrower staircase. The room itself is quite pokie. Bathroom you have to battle with the door to get around to the toilet. A larger person would struggle. Plaster is coming off in places . Obviously an old building with some damp issues. Food in the hotel was lovely, and plenty of it. Service is a little slow as the one staff member we saw was not only working the bar/restaurant they were also the receptionist and the barmaid in the tavern bar too. Later another member of staff appeared and it did speed up a little. We had room 201. Theres a constant whirling sound I think from below I suspected possibly a laundry or aircon. However this room has no aircon. I switched off all sockets and the bathroom switches and it was definitely not in the room. The room is also right next to the narrow stair case and you can hear every footstep. The tavern bar seemed to be more of a local bar with a few who looked to have been sat the most of the afternoon getting loud and lairy. Overall needs some work and we provably wouldnt stay again.
