Hotel Bannatyne Darlington

Great location, easy to park, rooms clean and well equipped, staff were really friendly and helpful and breakfast was perfect. Would definitely recommend.

We had a good experience and enjoyed our stay but the spa is quite a distance by foot from the hotel.

The hotel looked nice from the outside but our room was an upgrade to an executive room. The room was a reasonable size however the sash windows had possibly not been changed since they were put in when the hotel was built and let cold air in to the room and we could hear every noise from the outside. The furniture in the room was old and one of the nightstands had a forward lean. It was on the third floor which was a bit of a trek with all our bags and the hotel is old so accessibility was an issue with toilets being in the basement. The sealant in the bathroom was not sealed - a bit like the windows and when showering there was water on the bathroom floor so had to put a towel on the floor round the bath. The pillows were not supportive and I can honestly say they were the most uncomfortable I have ever used. We certainly needed the use of the spa to get rid of our neck and head pain. Staff were welcoming and generally nice but there was only one staff member on reception so when other guests were checking out it was a bit of a wait. The staff on reception guarded extra tea, coffee and milk sachets like they were from their own pocket. The evening meal was lovely and was a real treat and the servers/staff again were lovely. The breakfast included in our stay was a little cold ( buffet style) and a fried egg and the addition of upgraded drinks such as cappucino or flavoured teas ( you need to pay extra for these ) would have made the breakfast experience so much better. The hotel looks nice but the stay I would rather go to premier inn next time.
