Wainstones Hotel

This hotel is above the standard in both accommodations and service. I found the staff to be accommodating and pleasant. Gavin was especially helpful in volunteering to take us to the Coast to Coast trail head outside of his normal duties. Hikers on the Coast to Coast are asked to call the hotel for pickup as the hotel is 3.5 km from the trail. The only criticism I would offer is that it is difficult to get through on the phone. The voicemail does not identify the hotel and the hold goes straight to music without identifying the hotel. Consequently, I didn’t know if I was even dialing the correct number as I waited 15 minutes on hold.

We have made calling in at Wainstones on a Monday morning part of our routine when we travel back to the north east from staying at Castle Howard. On this occasion my wife and I both opted for the breakfast bagel which was a superb choice. The service was excellent and we felt, as we always do, that it is a great stop off point for us. What a lovely surprise while hiking the Coast to Coast. This hotel was so clean and comfortable; very modern. The food was great. Highly recommend!
