I visited with my friend today for lunch in the Retreat which was as good as ever! However, this review is all about the staff. While I was having lunch, I realised I had lost my engagement ring. The response I had from Victoria the Spa manager and her team was second to none. Curtis helped me scour the car park for the ring along with his grounds colleague; Kayleigh scoured CCTV for a very long time and Isabelle supported with her great coffee. The search went on for ages. The whole team were outstanding and really did everything they could think of to help. I will never forget their kindness or their genuine desire to think of everything in the search. You are all a credit to the hotel - thank you so very much. Happily, the ring was found.

Redworth Hall describes itself as ‘award winning’ and ‘opulent’. Maybe around 15 years ago when we last went it was.
We’ve just returned from a 4 night stay and the only way we got through it was to laugh at what we found. Excepting the front reception staff who gave a great initial impression, and the cleaning staff who had an impossible job trying to put lipstick on a pig, or more subtly trying to polish a lump of coal, it was sorely lacking, both in quality and quantity of staff.
The restaurant was a trial at breakfast (this morning the fruit was pineapple, pineapple and pineapple). Pastries were poor, and it was like trying to navigate a market place due to poor logistics with toaster and hot drinks machines at opposite sides of the restaurant/cafe, whilst limited staff did their best to replenish crockery.
Maintenance was sorely lacking. Our bedroom windows had not been cleaned for years and resin from surrounding trees made them impenetrable even with half decent eyes. One window was broken and wouldn’t open. Also the toilet cistern took an eternity to refill which was embarrassing for its user. If ownership are reading this look in room 407.
Evening meal was another story… and not a good one, but if you’ve read this far I guess you get my drift.
I commend ownership and management to get under the false facade of this place and see it for what it really is, without resorting to ‘we were full’, we had ‘2 bus loads in’ or any other excuse for poor management.
Is my expectation unrealistic? Benchmarking it against other hotels and B&B’s since Covid, it’s a poor last place..sorry!

I had a back, shoulder & neck massage with with Katie who was great. She managed to find & release the knots in my shoulder, even finding some I wasn't aware of. Great relaxing massage which I really needed
