I stayed 2 nights in the single room which included a very comfortable large bed, a shower, sink and just next door was located the toilet. The room was upstairs and due to the buildings age, there is no lift, so this would not be suitable for a wheelchair user but was perfect for myself.
On arriving, Julie and Melina made me feel extremely welcome and as this was my first proper visit to Brighton (last time was simply completing the London to Brighton Bike Ride), they gave me lots of extremely useful advice. This was both verbally plus by WhatsApp. I needed to attend a funeral the next day and they ensured that using public transport, I would arrive in plenty of time.
Due to the particular off-peak date that I arrived, breakfast was not available but the area has so many delicious cafes and restaurants, this was not an issue. As a long time vegan, I was spoiled for choice in Brighton. In addition to catching up with friends, I also enjoyed a last minute booking at the Brighton Dome theatre and the city bike ride with tour guide Duncan at Brighton Bike Tours. The food at Infinity was also extremely tasty along with their toiletries.
Starlings Guest House is such a beautiful building in such a pleasant area that is a short walk from the city centre, yet so close to the beach. I am a light sleeper but it was so peaceful. Friends stayed 3 minutes walk away but their whole stay was organised online without any one available in case of an issue. They really envied how much better treated I was. Really recommend Starlings - definitely the best place to stay in Brighton!

I booked this place fairly late for the marathon weekend, so choices were limited and prices at that time were definitely higher than usual. The room itself was very clean and nicely put together, including tea and coffee facilities. The room was small , and the floor had quite a slope to it so quirky, which some people might not like. The shower was tiny — I’m not a big person and couldn’t bend down properly in it.
The room I had was up a lot of stairs, so worth knowing if you’ve got bags. The owners meet you when you arrive and they are lovely and helpful - just note that they need a check in time as they come especially to meet you and were not on site.
I understand marathon weekend pushes up the price, but I paid nearly £300 for two nights with no breakfast and given the size of the room it didn't work out to be good value, not when you can see what is normally charged.
The owners were lovely, and the room was spotless, but the cost didn’t quite match the experience.

A very well located guest house, easy walking distance to both the seafront and town. Room was really clean and comfortable, we were on the top floor and it was lovely and quiet. Hosts were welcoming and friendly and we were able to park right outside for the duration of our stay. Would definitely stay again on our next visit to Brighton
