I'm a wheelchair user, I booked an accessible double as I am perfectly entitled to do so, when booking you're giving a choice of two singles or a double, i always choose a double. My bed was made up as two singles. I struggled back downstairs and asked the receptionist, he said he'd get someone to correct it but nobody arrived after an hour. My pain level meant that I couldn't go back downstairs again so instead I had to phone the expensive phone number to get through to reception to ask again. I got a different person this time and she said she'd get someone to come and change the bed. After about 40 minutes two women arrived and at the door one of them proceeded to argue with me that they never make accessible rooms up as a double. This was incorrect, I have stayed at this hotel before and many other travelodges and I always book an accessible double. If a double isn't t available then it shouldn't give the option to book one on the app. To not allow Wheelchair users to have a double bed is discrimination, and highly against disability law. I pointed out that I didn't want an argument about it, I just wanted my room how I'd booked it, I even showed my booking confirmation to prove that it said accessible double. Eventually they made it up as a double, which just involved clipping the two beds together and putting a double sheet on the bottom, which was all I wanted them to do and was hardly much of a task for them but they made me feel like I was the one being difficult, and asking for something that I wasn't meant to have. The door on the floor one where I was, to access the rooms, is a large door split into two, one has a handle and the swipe pad and the other has nothing. My wheelchair didn't fit through one so I needed to open both, this was very hard to do on the way in because you had to pull the doors towards you and as the doors were two separate ones and only one has a handle on it, it was very hard to pull them towards you and push your wheelchair through at the same time I've only got two hands sadly. The doors be in fire doors was very heavy and very stiff to move. On the way out you push them away from you so that was ever so slightly easier. Bearing in mind they know that there are accessible rooms on that floor, I would have thought it would have been better to have one larger door to fill that space, which would mean you could open it with one hand and push your wheelchair through with the other. My room was too light. With no view.
