The Kings Head Inn

We were served a shockingly bad Sunday roast. When we complained, we were told there would be a discount at checkout. It turned out the discount was 10% or less. This was frankly an insult. The carrot and parsnip were inedible - not cooked - needing a hacksaw to cut through, and there was hardly any other veg. The meat was tasteless and warmed up, I suspect, as were the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. There was no draft lager available for my wife, and my pint of Harvey's - usually a very good, reliable pint - was very poorly kept or the dregs of the barrel. We didn't bother with a dessert. When we came to pay, I informed the person on the till that the food was mostly inedible. I was offered no refund. I paid as we didn't want to make a scene. The only good thing was the tap water. If the owners would like to refund the cost of our meals, I will gladly donate it to a local charity.

What a wonderful place! We turned up with little notice 4 families with many littlens and we had a fantastic time. The food was delicious, the kids meals came out promptly and were a good size. The drinks were super reasonable and the roast dinner was lovely. It can be awkward eating out with kids but we had the most lovely time and felt very welcome, highly recommend. Tasty and accommodating.

Just had a great short break in Rye with friends. Wonderful area to stay. Hotel was good, rooms fine, staff friendly. Food was generally good but the dining experience on Monday night was unsatisfactory. Just not good enough as this was the only real blemish. It was functional, breakfasts good and staff friendly. Shame about Mondays poor dinner experience.
