BEST WESTERN ATLANTIC HOTEL

Hotel undergoing renovations after being a former asylum hotel. This was not clear at the time of booking. Outside the hotel is like a building site. Grounds not maintained. No restaurant or bar open even though stated available so relied on the local Coop for food and beverage. No lift so had to carry my case to the third floor. Stairs had bits of chip board on them hence no cleaning for 3 days. Faint smell of smoke throughout. Marked hand towel... query dirty. No AC so had to rely on portable fan in the heat wave. Floor by the bottom of the bed edge not vacuumed well with dried grass present. Only one positive... lady on reception Toni was lovely... very helpful and friendly and did her best to defend the hotel's short comings. Overall an awful stay. Best Western as a global brand should be ashamed! Clearly greed when they should had waited and done the refurb completely before reopening.

This hotel has been closed to the general public for 5 years whilst it catered for another type of guest. It is having to undergo a total refurb due to being wrecked (receptionists description) This may sound good and they have repainted rooms and replaced beds and mattresses and then filled it with dirty, worn chairs and furniture. Make no mistake there is grime on every other surface. It is in a rundown industrial area. Restaurant isn’t up and running as yet. Feel very unsafe here. I carry wipes and anti bac spray… just as well. Mould in bathroom. Wiped over desk…. The white wipe went grey, very grey with dirt. I’m only here as witness at court so this was booked for me. The housekeeping is not doing job well. Someone needs to get in here and bleach every surface. I’ve been put right above entrance where groups of men are congregating to smoke and talk loudly. Also there is no lift and no air con and neither bedside light works

Where to begin... i booked this hotel as it was close to somewhere I am on a course at. I was swayed by the offer of free breakfast. This was a mistake. I first realised something was amiss when I struggled to find the place. After some driving around I found it tucked away behind a derelict building and some waste ground. The website said it had a bar, Italian restaurant and air conditioning. None of those things are true. The bar and restaurant are closed for renovation and apparently the factory that was supposed to supply the aircon closed down for a month so that has not happened either. Just what you want in a heatwave. The mattress on the bed is cheap and rock hard. The bathroom smells faintly of urine. There are no power points near the bed. The desk is badly damaged and chipped and the chair provided is one of the ones from the dining room. This is one of their "executive" rooms. Good job i didnt book the basic one. Maybe the breakfast will be edible tomorrow. Will update if it is. There is nothing around here. If I want anything apparently its a 10 minute walk into town. One thing is for sure. I will be spending as little time as possible in this absolute disaster of a hotel. Compete dump. Avoid
