Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa

My husband and I got married here 10 years ago and came back for his birthday. We were not disappointed and if anything, the whole place has improved. The main thing that stood out were the staff. From the point of ringing up to book, the lady I spoke to was so helpful in arranging our stay. We booked the golf break and I went in the spa while he was playing. The timings all worked out well and everything was relaxing from arrival. Special mention to the lovely dark haired girl at the spa reception who was so friendly and welcoming. She also went to get me a new towel when someone moved it. For me, good customer service makes such a difference and I feel it is hard to come across these days. This all contributed to a positive and relaxing experience which was much needed. The room was comfortable and quiet which was surprising considering there was a large wedding going on. I was expecting some noise in the evening but there was none so it is impressive how they keep this all separate. All the restaurant/bar staff work so hard and again, the great customer service really stands out. I love what has been done with the ceiling in the dining room. The branches and fairylights create a lovely atmosphere and the tables are not too close together. The food was good but my only criticism was that it was a little salty for our taste. It was lovely that they presented us with both an anniversary brownie and one for my husband’s birthday too. Another big positive was that no service charge was automatically added. I don’t agree with this practice and would rather give the tip to the waiting staff separately. All in all we were very impressed and will definitely be back.

I had the most unbelievable massage this afternoon, the spa staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, definitely recommend.
