Travelodge Stansted Great Dunmow

Came in at 13:00 after a 12 hour long journey with flights. Wanted to ask if we could check in early. Waited for an hour and half with no one at reception to talk to. Desk sign said to call a number if someone was needed. We called this number, only to find out their phone was left at the desk. We eventually managed to get through to a checked in visitor to contact a cleaner to ask about the receptionist. Eventually 15 minutes later a women came. She was blatantly rude, not understanding and told us to come back at 3pm. It was 2:15pm Fair enough, I mean we managed to check in a little early on other occasions. I’m sure rooms were ready. She then left and again did not take her phone with her. Disgusting service. There should be someone available at all times, and if not they should take their phone with them. If this fails, there shouldn’t be a premium customer service line as a first point of contact. Ridiculous.

I can’t believe this hotel has has been updated and no A/C put in. We stayed during the heatwave and it was literally a sauna. No A/C even in the bar area. That is soooo cheap in my view. It made it unstayable in the warmer months and sadly the UK is only getting hotter-little forward planning here! Staff were lovely however and a bonus.

Hotel was in good condition. Bar area and restaurant isnt the biggest but is very nicely decorated and comfortable. Rooms were clean and tidy. The whole experience was made much better by the service of Karen on reception and bar area. She could not do enough for us her service was exemplary.
