Best Western Premier Queen Hotel

I had specifically requested a non-smoking room, but the room absolutely stank. The advertised ‘snack box’ was simply a bag of crisps, and all the water provided in the room was sparkling. Harsh lighting, no lamps other than the ones attached to the bed which are very bright. No biscuits. The fire alarm went off at 6:30am and woke the whole hotel. The soundproofing was terrible - you could hear every door slamming and every footstep from other guests on the floor. Housekeeping came to my door twice before check-out to try and clean the room. Room not up to scratch as you can see from pics. Just generally unclean and untidy. Can’t even be bothered to put bin liner in the bathroom bin so it’s dirty from previous guests. Old water kept in the kettle which smelled funny. Overall, I had a bad, interrupted night’s sleep, didn’t enjoy the room and wouldn’t return or recommend.

We have just had one night at this hotel. Booked with Trivago. Probably the worst situated room in the hotel. Next to the lift with the door to the staircase and other bedrooms double banging every time someone passed through. The shower was over the bath with a bath mat to stop you slipping. The underside of the mat was covered in black mold. See attached photos. My wife took the mat down to reception and whilst other guests were checking in she quietly passed the mat to the receptionist. Her response was “ it’s only a bath mat.” Not what we had expected. We weren’t even offered another mat and at 85 it isn’t easy to get into a slippery bath to have a shower. So if you stay at the Queen look at the underside of bath mats. Black mold is a killer!

Second visit here. Nice rooms particularly when you opt and bid for an upgrade. However despite the reviews online indicating a good breakfast it seems to have gone down hill since the last visit in 2024. Limited selection which runs out when breakfast is busy. Dry food particularly the cooked breakfast and very bland taste. To be honest on the last day we skipped breakfast and went somewhere else in Chester which was much better. Feedback to the hotel, up your act here as the rest of the hotel is very nice.
