Northop Hall Country House Hotel

We arrived at 10pm,all locked up,lights on inside but nobody at reception,we couldn't find anywhere to out the code for entry, eventually after three calls, one of their customer service people called me back. We got in,it is a god awful place, patches of carpet, dirty stairs, ceilings falling down in the corridor,a long walk up and down several flights of stairs to get to the room. No info in the room, but we had already decided to go elsewhere for breakfast,so we left after showering. Our granddaughter described it as 'spooky', although our family room was clean.

I stayed in a suite, it was worth every penny. Four poster bed, huge room. Great views. Bathroom was spotless and looked new. Had a rain shower and the temperature was perfect. Bed was huge and super comfortable with lovely bedding and fluffy pillows. There are usb/c plug ins in the bedroom. Huge tv you can swivel to watch from bed or the little seating area. Carpet was clean and vacuumed just a bit old. The whole building is very old worldly with a huge chandelier hanging in the entrance hall. And the stairs were brilliantly creaky. They had tea/coffee biscuits and even oatmilk sachets as well as milk in the room. A decent enough hairdryer too. Beautiful views to the countryside. My breakfast was average, I had eggs Benedict on sourdough. There’s not a lot on the continental table but the menu has lots of lovely options. I found the breakfast room pleasant enough. The server was very polite and friendly I was a solo female and arrived back very late from a night out. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time and I’d absolutely love to stay here again. No there isn’t a bar or evening restaurant but that suits me just fine. For a 3 star hotel I was very impressed.

We had a pleasant stay the staff were helpful and yes the hotel is very dated The hotel has lovely grounds and the breakfast was really nice. I was a bit worried when reading previous reviews but I have to say it wasn't to bad at all. There isn't anything to do around the hotel and the restraunt and bar is closed. I think this hotel has a lot of potential but needs a refurb in places.
