The Grand By Thistle

Awful experience. Writing a formal complaint and considering my next steps.

This hotel should be avoided at all costs. We booked it as it is 5 minutes walk to The Beacon where we had tickets for a gig. We imagined The "Grand" would be just fine. Not cheap and we booked months ahead only to be shown a room on the 4th floor where, quite frankly, you wouldn't put a dog. Marks on the walls, bed pressed up against the wall and an "en suite" with a stained bath and basin and a shower curtain over the bath that was half hanging off the rail. We complained to reception who eventually agreed us to a room that was marginally better on the 3rd floor. Reception area is ratty too. Threadbare and split fabric on the settees. Never again.

I have stayed here a few times over time but this time I have been so disappointed!! The hotel is scruffy really tired ! Only one lift working in a busy hotel like this and having read other reviews the lift situation has been going on for over a month! Huge yellow stain on carpet in room ! Just really needs a good clean and spruce up! Windows rattle like drums ! We didn't have breakfast thankfully looking at the reviews;
