London Inn

Not a good stay - so bad that we were booked in for 3 nights and only stayed 2 - went home a day early - our room was nothing like the ones in the pics - asked Expedia for a refund and they offered me £35 - A pittance for what I paid

The London Inn Charlton Kings DO NOT BOOK THE LONDON INN WE BOOKED WITH EXPEDIA - NEVER AGAIN AS THEY OFFERED US A PITTANCE OF A REFUND We arrived at a quaint but very grubby looking pub called The London Inn . 1st impressions were not great. The wooden seating outside was ready to snap due to being weathered that needed to be scrapped as a heath and safety issue. As we were shown to our room the hallway floor and stairway floor carpet was disgustingly rotten dirty, which sent alarms bells ringing. I was silent!!! Upstairs we passed a fish tank which sadly I don’t think had been cleaned in a million years. Another tell tale sign of not good !!! Door handle not fitted properly and was hanging off - it didn’t affect the locking but still not acceptable!! We entered our room and it was so bland and small . Bathroom, just on the left and the bath panel was held together with masking tape !! ( bath and sink was clean ) Past the very narrow entrance and bathroom was a portable metal clothes rail with 3 hangers !!! 2 single beds ( which was requested ) with a small side chest of drawers in between. This was our room!!! No room at all in it !!! The beds had thin springy mattresses and were very uncomfortable but to be fair was clean and the windows were so old and damp. The weather was hot and the hotel had no fans and no ice!!! Parking was outside but had to move by 9am and also parking down the side and was lucky if you could get a space. No room service had taken place and we had to ask for fresh towels on our return the next evening which the young lad followed us upstairs and handed me from a cupboard opposite 2 shower mats !!! He thought these were towels !!! I thought he was joking but when I said that these were for standing out onto after a shower /bath he then handed me 2 hand towels !!! I said I needed bigger towers and these were not bath towels - he said he didn’t have any and couldn’t see them in the cupboard - I looked in and they were on the floor in a clear plastic bag - he then gave me 2 , He said he was off to university soon !!! God help us all !! Breakfast was not the best ( I didn’t attend ) my husband loves a breakfast but he said it was not great and didn’t eat much at all. Staff were not great !! I am def not a snob and I book off reviews a-lot and i had read good reviews but I would definitely NOT recommend this pub to anyone. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2 and I now wish we hadn’t stayed any!!! This is not a bitter review - it’s an honest one as it spoilt my stay in Cheltenham. I was very disappointed for the money we paid , please pay a little extra and stay somewhere worth staying as you will be annoyed with yourselves for not taking on board this review.

The room picture on the hotel’s page on TripAdvisor is way more inviting than the room we had. Terrible lighting, no clothes storage space if you actually want to unpack. One chair. ONE. And the street noise is unbelievable. Parking is on the street, and good luck with that.
