Relaxing stay , we had booked a dinner bed and breakfast with two friends Great value for money but the only negative comment is that it was unclear wether our break was for two or three courses at dinner. Nice comfy rooms that looked as if they had been recently refurbished

Outstanding hotel with lovely views friendly staff comfortable clean rooms food excellent and reasonable bar prices will definitely be visiting again. Out and about llangollen is just 2 miles away....

We had a great time staying here for 2 nights over New Year, it's a lovely old hotel, with the caviat that it has seen better days in some respects, however the current owners have only had it since 2017 and are in the process of updating and renovating, so if you are looking for the grandeur of a 4 star hotel, they are not there yet, but I am sure they have every chance of getting there as they have several pluses - very friendly and attentive staff, most of whom are quite young and maybe still learning, but they work hard and are fun; a great chef, producing really good food; decent sized rooms with very comfy beds; a wonderful location with superb views over the canal and hills beyond; and very competitive rates! A great base for those who like to walk, with the village of Llangollen just under 3 miles away and it's a lovely walk along the toe-path. We were all taken by the overall friendliness of the staff and the other guests there for the festivities and had a really good time, culminating with all the guests and staff singing in the New Year together - a nice touch for them to join us and indicative of the overall warm atmosphere. Well worth a try if you want to dip into Wales, they will welcome you!
