We have wanted to stay here twice before but because of covid it did not happen. We were finally here to stay. We were greeted warmly and check in was smooth. The Lavinia Fenton suite was lovely, in the main house but it had no air conditioning which I felt should be mentioned on their website. As there were heatwaves it was very uncomfortable to sleep. The windows are secured so they only open a tiny way like 5cms so getting a breeze was pretty impossible. We did get 3 fans but they really didn't do much. Food isn’t very good in the restaurant. We were so disappointed as we had intended to dine in each night but after the first night we decided against it. They had planned Window cleaneing but gave residents no notice. So only realised when i got out of the shower and a window cleaner was looking in my window with me naked as I came out of the bathroom. because no one was advised all the windows were open so water was spraying into the rooms, drenching the widow sill onto the carpet. Obviously this was a complete lack of privacy. Housekeeping took a bottle away with whisky still in it from the sideboard. It wasn't in the bin. We were compensated with 2 drinks in the bar. Unfortunately it is a destination so it was over run with groups conferences and weddings even though we were there wed to friday. It was very difficult to find a space that was not invaded by them. I feel they should have been offered there own meeting spaces fro drinks etc. so other guests could use the bar, or lounge and restaurant.

Beautiful hotel! The rooms were very big, very clean, quiet and air conditioned. There are lovely grounds to explore and enjoy. The hotel allowed us to have a birthday mini celebration outside with cake and balloons, which was very much appreciated. Would stay again and would recommend!

Having been to the hotel for may parents 65th wedding anniversary I would book again for my Fathers 90th birthday, I should have known when I called 2 weeks before the date we where booked in for a family celebration, they could not find the booking, re booked but now I wish we hadn't We had 6 starters 4mains and 6 deserts and a bottle of sparking wine The cost was £365.00 The food was appalling, clearly the mains where microwaved, the starters, a so called prawn cocktail, 4 prawns on a flat plate with 4 drops of sauce and a chargrilled baby gem, disgusting, and that came with an extra fee , the entire meal was disgusting I was asked why I dint complain at the time and did so the next day, why would I, I was devastated that such a celebration was ruined I wasn't looking for compensation, just as well really as I was offered an afternoon tea for 2? there was 6 in the booking I declined the offer
