Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel

We booked directly with Best Western and were upgraded to a suite ahead of our arrival. The suite was in the manor itself. We really liked the peaceful setting and it was the perfect calmness we were looking for ahead of our cruise to Norway. We did not know about the park and stay package or would have booked that. Dinner and breakfast were both included in our stay. We really liked the food and service. Looking forward to booking our next stay now and this time with parking!

Not great! Entrance and grounds lovely rooms very dated! We were in room 101 check in was poor no one explained where anything was pool breakfast etc! Serious fire safety issues with doors propped open everywhere including the fire exit at end of our corridor so guest from the function suit woke us all up in the early hours would not return.

We booked this as a special few days away for my husband's birthday. It was a special 2 night package, Executive room plus dinner on 1 night and breakfast both mornings. This instructions from the hotel said we needed to book the evening meal in advance, so on the 11th June I phone the number I was given to contact the hotel. It rang and rang and rang until I was cut off. I lost count how many times I tried that day. So I tried again on the 12th, same again, so I phoned the Best Western Booking line and the helpful lady there gave me another number to try. This time it rang and gave me options, eventually it said they were to busy to speak to me could I leave a message and someone would call me back, so I did. Their message also said I could email reception and they would get back to me.i did this twice, and I emailed the hotel via the chilworth manor hotel website. I heard nothing. On Saturday 13th I had still heard nothing from the hotel so I contacted the travel agent I had booked through. She contacted the supplier who emailed the hotel and got an instant response,unlike my attempts, and the evening meal was booked for the 15th June. Out of desperation I had also contacted the hotel on Saturday 13th by messenger, I eventually got a message back saying they would sort it on Monday, day after we had arrived at the hotel. We arrive early at the hotel, there was a receptionist there, she said we could check in early if we paid extra, so we decided to go out for a while. We got back around 6pm ish, surprise, surprise, no receptionist. Phones were ringing in the back office unanswered. More guests were arriving, but no one to check us in. In the end my husband went to the bar and asked to see the manager, but they didn't turn up to see us. Eventually a chap turned up to check us in, and told us that our restaurant booking for the 14th has been received, we said no it's tomorrow night the 15th. We went to our room and couldn't believe it, it was supposed to be an executive room, it looked very standard to me. When we looked out the window our view was the rubbish bins, to say we were not happy was an understatement. That is room 7 I called reception and he said he could upgrade us and move us to room 16. It's a bigger room but I still wouldn't say it's executive or superior, but it does overlook the gardens and car park at the front. On my husband's birthday we left the hotel just after having breakfast around 10am. We went out for the day and got back to the hotel around 4pm, but our room had not been service, bed not made, bins not emptied and wet towels still in the bathroom, so I called reception.i spoke to a chap who said can we put up with it because housekeeping had gone home. I said no not really we leave tomorrow, so I said let's compromise, can you send up some clean towels, he said I'll bring you some up well that was 1hour and 20 mins ago nothing has arrived This place is run by monkeys. It's a disgrace.whoever the manager is he needs retraining and so do his staff, they are running this place to suite themselves, not for guests. We've got another booking here in 10 days time, I'm going to try and change to to somewhere else
