EXPRESS BY HOLIDAY INN

Nice hotel situated in a perfect spot if visiting Apsley Marina with its pub and restaurants! Ample free parking and easy check in procedure I found. Room was comfortable and mostly clean enough with a shower and working TV! Staff lovely especially Isaam at reception who deserves a pay rise and promotion as came across as loving his job and helping me check in easily. Only small disappointment was the breakfast which is included in the price so didn’t really matter. Wouldn’t rush down next time as bacon rubbery and sausages poor ( had 1 bite and left rest ). Croissants nice and coffee but apple juice poor! Don’t let this put you off though as nice hotel, lovely staff and at a price worth staying and paying!

Stayed one night with a group of friends in 5 rooms. Check-in quick, staff helpful and friendly. Free parking with plenty of spaces. Was advised no air-con in rooms but fans were available. Air duct in room provided some air but was very noisy, windows don't open very far but it wasn't too bad. Beds very comfortable, tea making facilities provided and decent toiletries in the shower (no bath.) Decent pub just 1 minute walk away on the canal. Breakfast was very good with juice, cereals, croissants and tea plus a decent hot, cooked selection. Reasonably priced it was perfect for our stay.

If Carlsberg made hotel staff… they’d probably just hire this lot. We had a brilliant stay at Holiday Inn Express and would happily book again. The absolute stars of the show were the staff. Friendly, welcoming, always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. As it was my birthday, they even treated me to a complimentary drink. It’s amazing how quickly you become attached to people who give you free beverages! I’d seen people mentioning the lack of air conditioning, but honestly it wasn’t an issue for us. The room had a fan and, with the British summer doing its annual impression of the Sahara, it wasn’t any warmer than our house anyway. We survived… although my hairstyle definitely didn’t. The only thing that made us laugh was the burger buns. They arrived with the structural integrity of a Victorian paving stone. I’m convinced one of them had planning permission. We mentioned it to the staff, who apologised immediately, replaced them without any fuss, and we were back in business. So, free birthday drink, fantastic customer service, clean and comfortable room, and a team that genuinely care about their guests. The staff deserve a gold star (or at the very least a pay rise!). We’d happily stay here again… although next time I might ask if I can borrow one of those industrial fans from the kitchen, just for my quiff! A huge thank you to everyone for making my birthday stay a memorable one!
