This hostel is clean throughout. I had a private single room with ensuite washroom. The bed was not the most comfortable but it was fine for the one night. The shared kitchen is well stocked and staff frequently check that it is clean.

Despite having made the booking for a twin private room months in advance, and receiving confirmation, AND messaging the hostel prior, we travelled over 8 hours to find they could not fulfil our booking, then - to their shame - turned us away, without anywhere to stay! No help, and no reason given. A sorry was briefly and insincerely mentioned but no real help or effort - which is not what YHA stands for. We were kept waiting for 40 minutes whilst our booking was checked, along with our confirmation email, and ID. Answer - we can see you’ve booked and confirmed, but we are full and we have no record of your booking. We were turned away without support. So disappointing!

Ideally located in a quiet, leafy neighbourhood, a 5-10 mins walk to nearby bus stop (with several buses heading into city centre) or alternately, a 10-15 mins walk into city centre. Friendly, accommodating staff. Our 2nd-floor private room came equipped with 2 single beds and 2 bunk beds (hence, lots of choice afforded to the 2 of us), as well as wardrobe, and small round table and chairs. Dormitory-style accommodation also available. Shared bathroom located on the other side of the floor provided 2 showers for us, with good, hot water flow. Self-contained kitchen on the ground floor is available to visitors. You can also purchase continental-style breakfast including tea/coffee; bread; milks & alternatives; cereals; yogurt; fruit juices. Communal flat-screen tv also available on ground floor guests. No lifts on site proved an inconvenience for my friend (81 year-old) whom struggled somewhat on the flights of 'high-spaced' steps between the ground and 2nd floor.
