Royston Guest House

The room was clean, but, cold. Despite efforts to get the manager to turn on the heating, it was never done. The internet was patchy and unreliable. To top it off the showers went from boiling to freezing cold during our shower. Not a great stay and not recommended. The location is a little out of town, but, within one bus stop, so not too bad.

I really would have given a much better review, had I felt welcome on my arrival. Unfortunately I had taken a screen shot on a wrong code which didn´t let me in as I arrived after the check-in time. I couldn´t check the code, because I didn´t have wifi, so I ringed the bell. The host came to open the door and seemed really upset that I had bothered him like this. Though he was just in the next room. My mistake, of course, but it would have meant a lot for me to hear the word "welcome" and to have a feeling of hospitality. Especially travelling alone from a distance. I even had some trouble opening the lock to my room and had to ask the host for help. He said something like "first you can´t open the front door and now this". So this was the bad part, but other than that, the place was really cozy and quite comfortable. The breakfast was good and the service by the host was very different by now. I was able to take breakfast up in to my room (there was a fridge) for the next morning, when I was meant to leave early before breakfast time. My room was very well cleaned and there was really everything I needed. The walking distance from the town central was about 10-15 min., which was not ideal, but ok. I had rented a car and there was a free parking place behind the guest house.

Over priced. Right next to a busy road, dirty carpet, and the worst breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. The bathroom (and) toalet were fresh, but the air freshener smelt wery much and very bad, also in the room. The bed was comfy and fresh but the sleeping pillow was very big and made my back hurt all through the night.
