My girlfriend and I stayed at Duisdale House Hotel for one night as a birthday treat, and unfortunately we left feeling quite disappointed.
From the moment we arrived, the experience didn't feel particularly well organised. We were asked to wait around 20 minutes before we could check into our room, which wasn't a great start.
Before arriving, we had pre-booked the hot tub. At check-in we were told this was fine and that we simply needed to book a time slot for that evening. However, when we went down at the agreed time, a member of staff told us it was unavailable because the pH level of the water was unknown. This seemed rather strange. I then asked another member of staff, and what I believe was the manager or owner overheard the conversation and appeared surprised that we had been told we couldn't use it. After some confusion, we were eventually allowed to use the hot tub after all. The whole situation felt disorganised and could have been handled much better.
The room itself was also underwhelming. Having paid around £450 for a single night's stay, we expected a much higher standard of room and overall service than we received. While the hotel has a lovely setting and plenty of character, it simply didn't feel like good value for the price.
On a positive note, the food in the restaurant was excellent and was definitely the highlight of our stay. The staff we dealt with were also polite throughout. However, overall the restaurant is very expensive.
Overall, though, we left feeling that the experience didn't justify the cost. For the price charged, I believe there are likely to be better-value hotels elsewhere on Skye. It's a shame, as we had been looking forward to our stay and hoped for a much more memorable experience.

We had a lovely high tea here. Call ahead! If not, it takes a while to make everything up fresh for you. We did not mind waiting and were rewarded with a lovely array of sandwiches, tarts and sweets. The atmosphere was lodgy but not stodgy. The food was delicious and they were happy to send us home with our leftovers. Kai also gave us some tips for local adventures.
