First time I go to a “guest house” where the arrival is remote and where you do not meet anyone before delivery to your room in the morning of breakfast ordered the day before via a form. Personally, I didn’t like it because it was too impersonal even though a small bottle of wine and cheese are offered as a welcome drink. Breakfast consists of a bun with an egg and bacon and toast. There is also cereal but no yogurt. It’s pretty basic. The princess suite is on the first floor just above a busy road which makes the room noisy. The suite is spacious and well equipped but the shower room is really small with a tiny sink glued to the toilet itself glued to the shower. In the morning you are woken up by the person preparing breakfasts because the suite is all against the kitchen and you hear the door slamming and the sounds of dishes.

We got the corner suite and it was the best view in Tarbert! What a beautiful village and we loved our time here. Knap was very well appointed and near the main street and views over the harbour. Breakfast was chosen the night before and brought to the room fresh in the morning. WHat a great set up, I loved sitting at the window with my morning coffee. We both slept so well and the rooms had absolutely everything we needed from start to finish. Highly recommend getting a corner view!

We stayed as a stop over on the way back from Islay before driving the next day, great location to start a trip into the northern Highlands. Parking on a nearby road was fine. We were let in remotely as we arrived after 8, we were still able to order our mini breakfast which was served within a minute of our requested time and it was all smoothly done. Bed was big and comfy, lovely little bathroom with shower and toilet and seats / table by the window overlooking the harbour. It was very quiet and we had a good night sleep. Breakfast was as requested, a sausage and a bacon bap, coffee and some toast Good value at £135 including a 10% discount for booking directly. I could happily spend a couple of nights here had our time allowed for it.
