Royal Hotel

Great location - easy walk everywhere in town. Great atmosphere, nicely updated rooms with everything you need. Great shower and very comfortable bed. Great value for money. Clean, great view, tremendous staff, especially Rachael 🥰. The restaurant is “Michelin star” from quality farm to table eats to quality wines and great service. You will be happy with your choice to stay here.

Very comfortable rooms very friendly staff. Although a bit pricey, this is one of the better places to stay in Stornoway. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are well appointed and clean. Breakfast is a choice of Scottish produce including Kippers, Porridge and other items. Nice to see they out two teabags in the teapot as tgere is nothing worse than weak tea. The hotel has two restaurants on site which are the subject of separate reviews. The rooms are quiet but, they need a new bearing on the fan extractor at the rear which starts screaming at half past six when the kitchen starts up until the fan has warmed up.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Royal. our room was excellent overlooking the harbour and Lews Castle, always something to see outside. we had a very good meal on our final night of a 3 night stay. without a doubt your staff are your best asset. all reception staff extremely helpful and Jade in the restaurant very friendly and helpful. an early start on our last morning meant being early in the breakfast room, where there was a buffet breakfast but still a helpful staff member around too. they do great seafood dishes but plenty of other choices such as Sunday roast. Sunday is a busy day in their restaurant because of Harris and Lewis strict Sunday observance laws and it's one of the few places open to eat. we did find a petrol station open briefly in the morning doing a roaring trade in bacon rolls etc.
