Felt like I’d been sucked into a carry-on movie, the hotels tired and in need of some major works. Ordered a double room - given a twin, rang for some assistance and told that was the best they can do. The bedding was brown and stained. Rubbish on the floor and the toilet seat not on properly. Rang down to reception however they didn’t seem bothered or surprised. If you can stay somewhere else, I would.

Where to start on a review on this awful hotel? Firstly, it is nothing like the billing the website gives it and certainly not a four star hotel. As previous reviews have said, it feels quite tired and needs a lot of money spending on it. Our room overlooked the sea and was clean and tidy though there was no fridge, minibar or air conditioning, and the only two electrical plugs were on the desk away from the bed. The wifi was also very weak. On the Booking.com website it states there is daily housekeeping with no mention of an additional charge when in fact they only service the rooms every three days. There is a charge of £15 for any additional room service. However, our main problem was that there was no ventilation in the bathroom because the extractor fan was not working. The window in the bedroom only opened two or three inches so that every time we had a shower, our bedroom filled with steam, becoming unbearably hot. I raised this with reception on our first two days but nothing changed. When I spoke to them on Day 3, I was told a replacement fan was probably on order but could take days or weeks to arrive. When I asked to change rooms I was told the hotel was full. When I asked for an additional fan I was told there were none to spare. Not, for example, that they would check and see what could be arranged but a blunt no. Later in the week as the coach parties departed and the hotel was clearly not full, no-one offered to change our room. Very poor management. The other main disappointment was with regard to the restaurant which was one of our reasons for choosing this hotel. The website has impressive menus and pictures of delicious food at the Paragon Restaurant and states that it provides 'a relaxed dining experience in superb surroundings with a stunning sea view' and offers 'a sumptuous evening carvery with ..........'. Not for us it didn't! It was only open to the coach parties for the nights when they were in the hotel. The day they left, the restaurant closed down. We therefore had to make do with the eating in the sports bar. After one very poor meal there, we resolved to eat elsewhere for the rest of your holiday. Overall it was a thoroughly disappointing stay.

As said before, the room let the hotel down. The room was facing the car park, the heat was intense, the fan didn't cut it. Opening the window is an option when the machinery calms down. The rooms could also do with a refresh. On the positive side, the food is excellent, the staff friendly and the facilities make it a 4 star with pool, jacuzzi and gym. Never used the slots or casino but there if you fancy it. Lookys bar is fine too, and even cheaper than some of the local pubs.
