Our “family” room was cramped, the en-suite smelt awful, the room was stuffy (yes, heatwave blah) but no air con and with the window open the fans outside were so noises all night. They said the rooms were the same as the pictures. I reminded them my eyes aren’t fish eye lenses and the photos selected only show the best parts. No plugs, certainly no USB sockets. Breakfast was awful, basic, shop bought pastries. They couldn’t even get poached eggs on toast right. Oh and the spa/pool might have been a saving grace but it has been closed for two years. There is a note in small print on their website. I’ve never had to move hotels EVER before, but the thought of staying there for 3 more nights with my girls just wasn’t an option. We’ve moved to another hotel. General manager started threatening terms and conditions at me about refund and cancellation fees. I wasn’t unreasonable, offered to pay one night but wanted the rest refunding. They refused to refund me there any then (I paid on arrival…BIG MISTAKE) and they’ve said I’ve now got to take it up with booking.com. What already wasn’t the best stay has now turned into a nightmare to get a refund. It’s a total scam I doubt I’ll ever see the money again. I’d avoid this hotel at all costs.

From the moment I arrived I felt welcome, comfortable and relaxed. And this feeling remained throughout my five days. Every member of staff is friendly, helpful and efficient - nothing is ever too much trouble. The hotel has traditional decor throughout. On the ground floor there are several cosy lounge areas, a large restaurant/breakfast area and lots of outside seating in the grounds at the front (which have lovely trees and lawns). The restaurant has a reasonably priced, extensive menu (the lamb/spinach tagine was my favourite!) My room (101) was large with plenty of space to stretch out, sit etc and more than enough storage space for my stay. The ensuite was small but functional with a powerful shower. And the view over the front of the hotel made for a pleasant experience. And throughout the entire hotel, everything is spotlessly clean. There's no air conditioning but even though the weather was hot during my stay, the room never felt too warm (and fans are available if needed). You do hear planes landing at the airport but, being Guernsey, these aren't regular enough to bother! The airport is only a ten-minute drive and the hotel has plenty of parking. I used the bus - there are bus stops right outside the hotel servicing the airport and St Peter Port. (I was working ar The Mallard Complex near the airport) Overall a fabulous place to stay. Many, many thanks to every member of staff - you made my stay perfect!

Stayed here as part of a package with Condor Ferries and a good choice it was, Decorated in the old style as it was a Manor House, Bedroom was very clean and had all the it usual extras, Tea/coffee tray was kept out of sight in a wall cupboard, hair dryer in a desk draw so kept the tops clear, Bathroom well stocked, I thought it was an old office the way it was furnished, Food in the restaurant was very good and well presented, Breakfast was full English or continental style, I thought the sausage was bland so went continental after the first day, The staff were very friendly and helpful, Loads of info leaflets and bus time timetable avaliable, bus fare was £1.60 flat fee, (no cash accepted) to anywhere on the island , mainland bus pass won't work, stop outside the Hotel, Free parking. Couldn't fault the Hotel and staff. Alan
