Chequers Plaza Hotel

Booked this hotel for a double tribute weekend (Elvis and Tom Jones). Spotlessly clean, food, entertainment & staff was great. Aimee was our waiter and she was very knowledgeable, pleasant and very helpful. We caught the tram into Town (tram stop outside the hotel) which was very reasonable. Would definitely go back.

Booked this hotel for a tribute weekend & was amazed for a 2 star. Spotlessly clean, food, entertainment & staff was great.loads of hot water which is rare. Only one gripe, was that it was too far away from town but tram & bus stop just outside would certainly stay again.

Went with my friend on a UK breakaways tribute weekend to see Robbie Williams and Freddie Mercury. Very friendly staff. Got a bit upset during the first evening and one of the staff members offered me a hug, which I really needed at that point. Kyle was our waiter, had a laugh with him, I was sorry to see him have time off while I was still there! Tut Tut lol Drinks were reasonable prices. Breakfast was freshly made to your request, so if you didn't want beans or hash brown etc they'd add something extra on for you. Choice of fried, boiled, scrambled or poached egg. None were any trouble. Toaster either sent your bread back out having just been waved at the heat or sent out ready to break your teeth. Dinners are gorgeous, the lamb on Saturday was to die for. Always respected my wishes and didn't place a single vegetable on my plate. However, you did need to be in the dining room at 6 on the dot. On my last night, I had a lovely chat with the night guard while I sat and had a drink. Rooms were spacious, with a TV complete with remote control! Bathroom was sufficient, but I didn't bring any shampoo with me as rooms usually come with it, but not here I'm afraid. Don't get caught out! I'll definitely be back in a few months.
