First, the positives: we were able to get a room here at very short notice and were initially very relieved. The room was surprisingly spacious, the bathroom was very clean, the Wi-Fi was excellent, and the location is genuinely very good.
Unfortunately, there were significant issues with the cleanliness of the room. We found rubbish and used tissues left by previous guests in the bedside cabinets. There was also rubbish, biscuit crumbs and other food debris under the beds. The fridge was very dirty and still contained various food items left behind by previous guests. When we moved one of the beds, we even found a tablet underneath it.
I contacted the owner by email about this. While we were out, someone entered our room and removed the tablet. I found this rather concerning, as theoretically it could have belonged to us. The old food was also removed from the fridge. However, the room was not vacuumed and the bin was not emptied, even though it was already full because I had put some of the rubbish we had found into it myself.
In response to my complaint, I was essentially told that everything else was fine and that I could get in touch if there was anything else. However, this is rather difficult when there is no real point of contact on site.
During our stay, we could clearly hear vacuuming taking place elsewhere, so cleaning was being carried out. Our own room, however, was not cleaned once during the entire five days we were there. As a result, the crumbs and food debris remained on the carpet throughout our stay.
It is a real shame, because the accommodation does have a lot of potential: plenty of space, a very clean bathroom, excellent Wi-Fi and a great location. With a proper thorough clean before guests arrive and a little more attention on site, our overall impression could have been completely different.
