This is a great stopover on the M6 if you’re travelling long distances north or south. We just wanted a comfy bed and a clean room, and that’s what we got, for a bargain price.
The two lovely ladies at reception were a brilliant double act, with a friendly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. When we couldn’t tune in the TV (a previous resident had used a smart stick which reset it, grr!), the lovely blonde lady spent 15 minutes sourcing the correct remote and doing MI5 level secret coding to try and get it sorted!
My husband wanted corona zero and the same lady found some and put it in the fridge at reception for him to cool it down which was much appreciated. There’s a useful bar and stand with sweets and other useful items at reception too.
The rooms were spotless (the hotel had contacted us ahead to offer two family singles instead of the quad, as Expedia had overbooked us). It was the hottest day of the year (oops!) and no aircon, but they’d put fans in the rooms and the upstairs windows opened a few inches with a safety catch.
Upstairs rooms are definitely warmer so worth requesting ground floor if you’d rather be cooler in summer. The restaurant had aircon and this seemed to spread up the corridors! Also there is no lift, but again nice reception lady came to the rescue recommending using the back stairs with the luggage trolley, so it was just a short hop up to the room.
It was surprisingly green outside the hotel for a motorway services, it is tucked away (as other reviews say, turn left straight away if entering from southbound). We had a lovely view of trees and grass from both rooms. Short walk to Waitrose and Burger King etc. We had free parking but check if it’s included when you book.
The bathrooms were small but very clean, and the shower was ironically very large! No bath, in our rooms, might be in others. Good water pressure and temperature. Soft towels and high quality bed linen. Box of tissues in the bathroom and good quality loo roll (which evades some upmarket hotels!).
It’s not the Ritz but surprisingly upscale when you see the offering at some motorway services! It felt very safe and clean, and for £56 (for what ended up to be two rooms) it was fantastic. I’d stay here again, and many thanks to the lovely reception ladies, it was good to have a chuckle with them after a 4 hour journey!

After our motorcycle tyre blow out on the M6. We stop at the Charnock Richard service area.
We were both exhausted and decided to book a room in the Ramada hotel.
We give it 5 stars - the staff were so lovely. Hotel itself was amazing! Nice rooms, amazing buffet breakfast and even a bar that you can a couple of drinks before heading to your room. I would highly recommend staying in this Hotel. Loved our stay. Thanks 🤩
