Best Western Garstang Country Golf Club

I went with my husband for our wedding anniversary. We arrived at around 2:30pm, when we went in we thought, it is lovely. When we went to book in at reception we got told to go into the restaurant to book in, which we thought was strange. The booking went smoothly, and the staff was friendly. We went up to our room,.opened the door, and what a disappointment. The furniture is very outdated, they are brown, and looked like the 50s/60s! The walls are bare, no pictures, and the bathroom is also outdated. The bed was two separate beds put together with a king size mattress on top. I have NEVER slept on a bed as uncomfortable as that night, I couldn't get comfortable, and didn't get much sleep. We had a food voucher, and I have got to say I had the loveliest steak and ale pie, I would definitely recommend this! The breakfast isn't great, I went up and the scrambled egg had black hair in, I asked for it to be changed, and the member of staff had to go and ask if it could be changed. It got changed, but one member of staff looked at me like I had done something wrong. When we left I asked for two bottle of diet coke, but to leave the caps on. When I walked away, one member of staff stated pulling faces at me, my husband caught her doing it. The hotel is in a nice quiet location, and the view is lovely. When. We booked we requested for late checkout, well we didn't, we had breakfast and left.

Second visit with hubby here this year, and wasn't disappointed. We arrived early on our first day so we could indulge in the breakfast selection, I hadn't booked (had meant to ring up but had forgotten) and despite us arriving towards the end of the breakfast times, we were given a very warm welcome by the staff and a table found for us. Despite the extreme weather we have been having the golf course was very green, and the fact that everything had been watered meant that the greens were running a little slower than what we have recently become used to, but it was so nice not to have the ball bouncing off in all directions on concrete hard surfaces. Dinner was good, and service was with a smile. No cocktails (I say this every time as I am partial to a cocktail) but the bar was very well stocked and reasonably priced. An excellent selection of gins and mixers soon made me forget I hadn't had a Daiquiri. Room was clean, and bathroom towels were fluffy. I found the pillow was a bit soft, but that is down to personal taste and if I was really that precious about what pillow I slept on I would take my own with me. Breakfast on day two was it's usual high standard. A good selection, with items cooked in smaller quantities so they were still fresh when you helped yourself.
