Hinckley Island

This hotel is a very good choice for the area. It ticked our most important boxes: Quiet room Comfortable bed Good staff Free parking Yes there’s no AC and I know some of our friends were upset about this but we brought a fan with us and they gave us a few. The main thing here is that it was quiet and the bed was good. We’ll stay here again.

I booked the Leonardo Hotel Hinckley through a work arrangement and stayed for two separate weekends while working in the area. My first visit was excellent and left a very positive impression. The hotel was clean, tidy, and well presented, exactly what you hope to find when checking in. The reception staff were friendly, informative, and welcoming throughout. I was fortunate enough to be allocated an Executive Room, which was superb. The room was spacious, the shower was large, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The complimentary refreshments were a nice touch, including tea, coffee, biscuits, still and sparkling water, plus snacks and drinks (2 KitKats and 2 Pepsi Max), all of which were replenished during my stay. The leisure facilities and restaurant were also very good. Overall, my first stay was excellent, so I was genuinely looking forward to returning the following weekend. The Triumph bar was a real positive experience - such a nice bar, i really enjoyed my time in there. Unfortunately, my second stay was a very different experience. Check-in was smooth, but from that point onward there were several issues. I was again in an Executive Room, but this time only KitKats were provided, with no soft drinks, and only sparkling water was available. One evening I dined in the restaurant. There were only four guests dining at the time, yet my main course took around 40 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, part of the meal was only lukewarm. The server did apply a 10% discount to the bill, which I appreciated, but there was very little explanation and no real apology for the delay or the quality of the food. Back in my room, the toilet flush stopped working. I tried calling reception, but no one answered, so I had to walk down to report the issue in person. To be fair, the maintenance team responded quickly and fixed it. However, the flush broke again the following morning. Fortunately, I had seen how the maintenance engineer repaired it and managed to fix it myself using a teaspoon! I appreciate these may sound like minor issues individually, but they continued to add up. During the stay, the snacks were not replenished, and my request for still water was not actioned despite leaving a note for housekeeping. No one attended to these requests. Another point to consider - If you like snacks take your own. The price of snacks & drinks in reception are pricey. £5.99 for a 112g bag of peanut M&Ms is an example of what to expect to pay As someone who tends to avoid repeated problems rather than complain, these experiences have unfortunately changed my view of the hotel. I will be working in the area every weekend for the next three months, but due to the inconsistency between my two stays, I will be taking my business elsewhere. It's disappointing because my first experience showed how good this hotel can be. Unfortunately, the second stay did not meet the same standard.

First impressions count for so much , so when we arrived we asked if an extra hour on check out was possible as we were going to a wedding, the receptionist who could barely look up or be bothered just said no we’re very busy , ask in the morning Luckily in the morning there was a pleasant receptionist and the extra hour wasn’t a problem A positive is the room was very spacious Unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positive Only 1 pillow on the bed , even a premier inn gives you 2 The rooms are tired , there was obvious flaking plaster above the window The shower is awful, no shower trap , the water might be hot but you couldn’t fully stand under it , the shower is big but as the water only jets about 18 inches its pointless The breakfast was rank , everything that was meant to be hot was tepidly warm For 1 night it was just passable
