The Star Inn 1744

Sensational dinner. Lovely ambience with great staff. Our food was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding was the best we have ever had. A wait for food was dealt with in a friendly but efficient manner. Highly recommended.

The accommodation offered is rooms above the pub, and that was fine for us, as we wanted a one night stop-over as part of an extended road-trip, and so didn’t need full Hotel facilities. Check-in was quick & easy. Allocated #1, and it was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The bathroom was fine, and the shower was good quality. (This should be 'a given', but it's amazing how many places can't get this right). Off-street Parking wasn’t available for us, but we quickly found a space amongst the locals vehicles, in the road alongside the pub. WI-FI comes included in the price, and a comprehensive continental breakfast was also included. Cooked options can be paid for on request. For Dinner I had the Chicken Supreme (with extra chips on the side).... absolutely delicious. * I’m never a fan of an 10am check-out time however! I appreciate that there are House-keeping tasks to complete, but when Check-in isn't until 3pm, do they really need a 5 hour window to turn around a few rooms?

was somewhat concerned by the negative reviews before staying here overnight. All I can say is we had a very good time here. food was very good, place was clean, tidy and stylish and the staff (who all appeared to be to young to be out at that time of night) were first rate. would strongly recommend.
