The Greyhound Coaching Inn

The hotel is situated in the centre of Lutterworth and is a grade 2 listed building. If you like old buildings and period furniture without the corporate blandness of other hotels this is the place for you. We had a 4 poster room which was an absolute delight. The breakfasts were great too (table service) and it was excellent value for money. If you're staying in Lutterworth this is a great option.

If its character you want then you will get it in abundance here at The Greyhound Coaching Inn. Loads of history amongst the lovely comfortable rooms but watch your head on some of the doors which were probably designed for those who are shorter. The hotel itself serves breakfast but no longer does evening meals so I would recommend booking something local which are all in close proximity. We booked Cheikhos Italian which was lovely, great food and good atmosphere. The hotel itself has no direct car park but there is a couple of car parks nearby again just a few minutes walk away. We paid £70 for a superior bedroom fully ensuite with victorian decor bathroom which matched the character of this property. I think this was better than some of the other major chains of hotel. Breakfast was really good and better than I have had in other hotels. There is a self-service area for your cereals, fruits, juices, coffee and tea. The staff will then waiter for hot foods. Great friendly service with lots of people returning year after year which says it all.

This charming, family owned traditional coaching inn is a real find in a world full of soulless hotels. We had tried to book a room earlier in the week but with no luck, however the staff gave us a call the following day to say they’d had a cancellation so me, my partner and our well behaved greyhound managed to bag one of a few rooms set around a quirky, beautifully planted up courtyard on the ground floor. Spotlessly clean with high quality furniture and the comfiest of beds, we had a lovely night’s sleep, drifting off to the scent of jasmine, and the low murmur of guests enjoying a drink in the courtyard. Despite our late arrival the friendly staff team gave us a warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble and Elsie and Rachel on reception were exceptionally helpful. The inn has a comfortable, well stocked bar, particularly if you’re a real ale or whisky fan, and as Kentish hop farmers we were pleased to see real hop garlands being used as decoration! Breakfast was excellent, with an imaginative menu and well presented food. A very relaxed affair - no one rushes you at The Greyhound - and we had an interesting chat with owner Robert who told us more about its history. Taking on a 17th century coaching inn in need of complete renovation has obviously been a labour of love, and he’s sympathetically transformed it, adding all the modern facilities guests expect but without destroying its soul. A wonderful place and incredible value for money. Highly recommended.
