We knew in advance from their website that The Plough Inn does not offer food, though there was supposedly a burger van from which a variety of food could be purchased; we were not intending to use it, which is just as well, as we neither saw it or smelled it during the whole stay! We made use of Wetherspoons for both breakfasts & evening meals. The room - in a converted stable block - was incredibly hot that first night; I think it was the hottest day of the year so far. We had the window open in both the room & en suite bathroom & wedged the door open until we went to bed. Unfortunately there was no mechanism for leaving the windows partially open and locked for security; we felt vulnerable if we were to leave the windows open. The ensuite bathroom was a good size. There used to be some hooks on the back of the bathroom door, evidenced by the 2 little holes. There was a wardrobe with 4 wooden hangers, a hairdryer, iron & tall tower fan - we made use of the latter, but not the spare blankets! The beds were generally comfy but the pillows could have done with being a bit plumper. There was a bedisde cabinet with 2 drawers & a chest of drawers with 3 good-sized drawers, so enough storage space. There was a blackout blind on the window as well as curtains, which was great for me, but it had to be rolled up manually; there was no cord or spring mechanism. There was nowhere to sit apart from the beds. I know there's not a great deal of room for a chair, but perhaps a folding chair could have been included? My husband 'borrowed' a cast-iron garden chair from outside the room when watching telly during the evening.

Gave this pub a recent visit and although they have rules and regulations in place because of covid, the staff and management do their utmost to make you feel as welcome as they possibly can. The service is great and the bar staff are on the lookout at all times for customers looking to buy another drink. The orders are delivered promptly, always with a smile or a bit of banter and they really do try to keep things as informal as the present restrictions will allow. Like all pubs the boss has concerns as to how covid will affect his business, but really, this pub can do no more to try and make it as welcoming and "normal" as it was before all this started. Give it a visit. You won't be disappointed.
