Brunel Hotel

This hotel is located in the Paddington neighborhood, a 5-minute walk from the subway. On the street, there are also restaurants and souvenir shops. Regarding the hotel itself, the room is small, as is the shower room. It is difficult to move around freely in it. The shower was leaking The window is very poorly insulated and the frames are damaged. Between the people we could hear talking, the car horns, and the constant passing of ambulances, we had our pick of different noises. The double bed was small. The room we were assigned was right next to 2 others, which meant we had to deal with people talking quite loudly and doors slamming even at midnight. As for the breakfast area, since it is very small, if the room is full, we have to wait for a staff member to come and seat us. The buffet is also small but has a good selection: cereal, eggs, cold cuts, milk, juice, and various pastries. Staff members come by to ask if we would like coffee, tea, and toast.

We only stayed 1 night and wanted to leave but we were so tired. Room extremely small (to be expected) and the portable AC unit was duct taped together and barely made a dent in cooling the room. London was having a mild heatwave so the room was hot and stuffy. We slept on top of the bed. Couldn’t open the window as it was locked so that it could only open 5” for the air duct outlet. The very small table between the 2 twin beds was gone. Bathroom was super small. Shower needed updating as the handheld shower was broken. The rain shower was corroded and the shelf was so disgusting I didn’t want to put my shampoo on it. Breakfast and staff were great. Lift was broken the day we left and had to carry 2 heavy suitcases and my husband’s walker/wheelchair down 2 stories!! At least I got in my workout. Also, paid $204 for the one night. Totally not worth it. Staying at the Premier Inn next time. Didn’t sleep well and had an 11 hour flight back to California the next day 😔😢.

Arrived on the 4th May early and was able to leave luggage in storage to maximise our stay. Checked in later in the day. The receptionists were all very helpful. Room although smaller than many hotels was big enough for a few days stay. I didn't go to London to spend time in the room. It was merely a base for sight seeing and was more than adequate. It had 2 comfortable single beds, a dressing table with mirror, tea and coffee making facilities, tv, ample lighting, hairdryer, safe, hanging space and an immaculate ensuite shower room. No need to bring towels. The room was cleaned daily and was always immaculate. The walls had a few marks but nothing to complain about. The ensuite was very clean and water for shower was right temperature. There was improvements being made to the hotel while we were there but were discrete. Mornings for breakfast were held in the cosy dining room. Breakfast consisted of basics of hot and cold food eggs,cheeses, beans sausages, meats, yogurts, fresh fruit , cereals, pastries, juices tea coffee and hot chocolate. It had a great atmosphere and the staff serving were attentive and friendly. Location was close to Paddington tube and Little Venice so a great choice of eateries around the area. On leaving the hotel 8th May we were quickly checked out and again left luggage in locked storage for a whole day. For a 3 star hotel with breakfast and the amount we paid for our stay this hotel was in my opinion excellent value and would highly recommend a stay.
